In Sekondi Hasaacas’ third game of the season, many supporters and well wishers were expectant of the team’s first goal and potentially their first win of the ongoing Division One League 20/21 season.
And our third opponent of the season, Achiken FC provided the stage for that to come to reality.
The game was played on Sunday 24th January 2021 at the Jumsco Park inside the beautiful town of Assin Foso. In recent past years, team Hasaacas has had favorable results in our matches at this venue.
With two squad changes to the teams last outing, Hasaacas began the game with the heat. With the pressure to get the first goal of the season, Justus Torsutsey who lead the attack constantly found himself slightly offside.
The team’s numerous chance creation continued in our third game with Roger Lamptey missing a free header and Abeiku Ainooson hitting the bar all in the first 20 minutes.
Finally the stadium was ignited with the shouts of “Doooooooo” when a quick counter from team Hasaacas saw Sanah played Eric Wonkyi Arthur through before the newbie on the left side put in a brilliant cross into the 18 yard box and was buried by Justus Torsutsey.
Hasaacas continued to attack the right side of the Achiken’s defense and once again a cross from Eric Wonkyi Arthur was headed in by Justus Torsutsey to make it 2-0 for the away team in the first half.
The 2nd half didn’t present a lot of opportunities like the 1st, but the team maintained it composure and made sure we returned to Sekondi-Takoradi with the maximum 3 points.
The joy on the faces of the team was a clear indication of how we have been waiting and wanting for a goal and also our first 3 points of the season.
Congratulations to the technical team led by Mustapha Fudail and also the players for the relentlessness.
Certainly now that the goals gate has been opened, the expectation will increase when they come up against Bibini Gold Stars in their next out on Sunday 31 January at the Sekondi Gyandu Park.
Special Mentions
Roger Lamptey: In his first start of the season after injury kept him out, he exhibited a lot of work efforts both in attack and the midfield. Certainly, his return is a big addition to the fight for promotion.
Eric Wonkyi Arthur: The youngster’s first season with Hasmal has started on the right path with series of praise in his first 3 matches. He provided 2 assists for the teams win against Achiken.
MOTM: It is no doubts that the MOTM accolade after the game was given to Justus Torsutsey. With two beautiful goals in quick successions in the first half, Justus tormented the defenders of Achiken throughout the 90 minutes.
