Center back Janet Egyir continued her outstanding performances in the West Africa Football Union Zone B Women’s Cup of Nations to snatch the player of the match award in Ghana’s 2-0 win against Senegal.
Alongside Janet Egyir in the starting eleven for Black Queens was Evelyn Badu, both of Hasmal Ladies having a say in that magnificent performance.
The Black Queens eased pass Senegal in the tournament opener happening at the Ivory Coast thanks to goals from Evelyn Badu and Abdulai Mukurama on the 34th and the 91st minutes respectively to snatch a massive 2-0 win to push up the Group A log.
Janet Egyir emerged as the best player of the game; her accurate passes, recovery rate and defensive approaches made the decision so easy on the day.
Egyir, who played a pivotal part in all the four national league titles won by Hasaacas Ladies was the overall best player in the maiden edition and has continued from exactly where she left off the last time.
Ghana led by Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quaicoo will continue their title defense next against Togo before wrapping the group A up with a game against the host, Ivory Coast.
All the best of luck Janet Egyir, Evelyn Badu and the entire Black Queens team as they soldier on for the ultimate.
