Eric Wonkyi Arthur stunning strike at the 42nd minute was enough as Hasaacas kept it tight at the back to secure a vital 1–0 victory over FC Samartex 1996 in the preliminary stage of the 2021/2022 MTN FA Cup.
Coach Joseph Agyemang paraded a new squad, seven changes from the squad that played goalless against Future Stars the last time out.
Goalkeeper Mustapha Rabiu Dambaba and Center Back Daniel Addo were handed their debut starts in Hasmal shirt. Isaac Kofi Agbango also came on for John Komson at the latter stages for his debut.
Addo partnered Alex Ackon at the heart of the defense flanked by Eric Wonkyi Arthur and Fuseini Issaka respectively.
Edwin Mbeah Baiden played the defensive midfield role and was ably supported by Anthony Quainoo and skipper of the day, John Komson in the attacking midfield.
Edmund Ampofo led the attack and on his right and left were Kwabena Baidoo and Alex Kofi Murphy.
What Happened
Kwabena Baidoo could have snatched the opener but his connection to Alex Murphy’s corner was inches off target.
Hasaacas dominated the half picking up most of the second balls and try as we did it was until the 42nd minute when Alex Murphy teed a pass to Eric Wonkyi Arthur who volleyed it pass the fully stretched arm of the goalkeeper.
Bernard Ebo Eshun came on for Fuseini Issaka, Obed came on for Edmund Ampofo, Kwabena Baidoo came off for Alfred Payne, and Alex Murphy gave way for Benjamin Acqua-Mills and John Komson for Isaac Agbango.
