Ibrahim Sanah Mohammed returned to his known element as Hasmal comfortably put 3 goals past Pacific Heroes at the Sekondi Gyandu Park.
Sanah scored a trademark volley to make it 3-0 for Hasmal after sensational Philip Flamini had put the Giants ahead in the first half before setting up Theophilus Nana Awortwe for the game’s cushioning.
It was a well deserved victory against a side that we met some 3 years back.
After sharing the spoils in our last two outings disappointingly and the goals not coming as they should; Hasmal fielded one of its best second half displays yet in the season to marshal a 3-0 win.
How we lined Up…
Coach Mustapha Fudail committed to same lineup used in our last outing against Venomous Vipers on match day six.
Ever present Anthony Brebo manned the poles flanked by Nathaniel Eshun and Daniel Egyin on the right and left respectively and in the center were Abeiku Ainooson and Bernard Ebo Eshun.
In the middle were Theophilus Nana Awortwe and Ibrahim Sanah Mohammed. Philip Flamini and Eric Wonkyi Arthur on the flanks with Sampson Eduku and Justus Torsutsey leading the attack.
What Happened…
The atmosphere was that which the Giants will cherish any day; a small showering earlier in the day setting up a fine weather for that game.
The game was behind closed doors with spectatorship of executive management, stewards and the media present.
It was Hasmal that took the game onto the half of Pacific Heroes when the whistle was blown to commence the game.
Flamini shook the net in the 16th minute ably connecting to a pass from Sampson Eduku inside the box – his second goal of the season.
Abeiku Ainooson nearly doubled the lead but his volley was parried by the opposition goalkeeper.
Again Torsutsey came closest, Sampson Eduku drove past two defender and teed up Torsutsey whose tap-in effort rolled over the bar for a goal kick.
Just after recess, Pacific Heroes came in stronger and threatened goal but the pair of Abeiku Ainooson and Bernard Ebo Eshun shielded the goal on several occasions.
With few minutes to end the game, Philip Flamini’s corner kick was turned in perfectly by Theophilus Nana Awortwe to ensure Hasmal had some breathing space.
Before long Ibrahim Sanah Mohammed volleyed a pass from Eric Wonkyi Arthur to send the game 3-0.
What It Means…
Hasmal has now moved one point within the top of the table and there is more to fight for with the race becoming more competitive than ever.
What’s Next…
The team travel next to Samartex SC on next Sunday, February 21, 2020.
