Technical director of Sekondi Hasaacas Football Club, Coach Yusif Basigi will be away for an internship program at United Kingdom based, Pick Up Academy, an affiliate of Premier League side, Crystal Palace.

Pick Up Academy houses both female and male players between the ages of 16 and 18. The club extended an invitation to Coach Yusif Basigi to be part of the technical team for two weeks, from May 17 to May 30, 2019.

The London based academy gets training coaches from Arsenal FC and Sutton United, a strong tie with the English Football Association and players are being recruited to Premier League side Crystal Palace and other lower league sides such as Wycombe Wanderers FC, Barnet FC and Brentford FC.

This will be Basigi’s 4th attachment in Europe; Ghanaian born English national Rachel Yankey’s Rebon Rackers, England, Serbia’s ZFN Napredac-Krusevac and A.T.S Buntentor in Bremen-Germany were the previous clubs.

Basigi’s broad knowledge in women’s football has helped Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies to an unprecedented 3 consecutive National Women’s League titles(2013 – 2015) and on April 14, 2019 came from 2 goals down in the first 20 minutes to beat Ampem Darkoa Ladies 3-2 in the final of the 2019 Ghana Football Association Normalization Committee’s Special Tournament.

On the national level, Basigi who was the head coach for Ghana’s senior national women’s team, Black Queens between 2014 and 2016 won the 2015 Brazaville, Congo All African Games, the first major title by the Black Queens and also guided the team to a bronze title at the 2016 African Women’s Cup of Nations. He’s currently the head coach of Ghana’s Female Under 20 team.

Coach Yusif Basigi as the head coach of Malavands, the second team of Sekondi Hasaacas FC worked with Samuel Afful, who will go on to feature for the Ghana Under 20 team, Black Satellites and the Black Stars B team, as the head coach of the male team in the 2015-16 season of the Ghana Premier League Saliw Babawo who’s currently part of the Black Satellites team and now with Dinamo Brest was part of his team.
