Debutant Alfred Payne struck first league goal in a closely contested 1-1 draw against FC Samartex 1996.
The young squad continued to give good account of themselves in a closely contested game in front of the home fans.
Coach Mustapha Fudail stuck with the same lineup that was used in our Round of 64 FA Cup game against Karela United FC, but Benjamin Acqua Mills came on to replace Eric Wonkyi Arthur who was out of the match day squad entirely.
The Giants were forced to make two quick substitutions; Theophilus Nyame and Philip Flamini succumbed to a first half injury and were replaced by Edwin Mbeah Badien and Obed Asamoah Ackah.
The half ended goalless – Anthony Brebo once again coming to the rescue with some incredible reflexes shown in the dying embers of the game.
The team returned from the break highly motivated by the team talk and dominated affairs forcing some saves from the opposite goalkeeper.
Before long, Alfred Payne dummied past two defenders to struck what is his debut goal in the league and the game’s opener with his weaker foot.
The attacker volleyed one from the edge of the penalty box to the underside of the cross bar beyond the fully stretched arm of the shot-stopper.
With a lot of pandemonium caused by the yellow-carded Sampson Eduku’s strike; who allegedly used the arm to turn in a goal halted the game for almost 15 minutes.
Calm was restored and the game took shape.
The visiting side got the equaliser from a corner kick as again Hasmal let go a vital win ending the game 1-1 at full time.
